OP.GG vs Mobalytics: Stats Lookup or Improvement Coach?

OP.GG is where League players look things up. Mobalytics is where they go to get better. Here is what each does, what each costs in October 2026, and which one belongs on your PC.

One disclosure before going further: we build Hexgate, an in-game build overlay for League of Legends. It shows up below as a third option: it adapts your items to the enemy team during the game, which neither app you searched for is built around, and Pro+ adds lane scouting and a breakdown of every game. Everything else is a straight comparison, with prices taken from each company's own pricing page.

Short Answer: The Stat Sheet or the Coach

Pick OP.GG if you want to look things up. Pick Mobalytics if you want to be told what to fix. OP.GG is also cheaper to use without ads ($3.00 per month) and is the only one of the two with a macOS app.

Our pickBefore, during and after the game: Hexgate. Both apps hand you the same build whether the enemy team is four AD champions or five mages. Hexgate reorders your situational items against the five enemies in your game and sets your runes in champ select, free with no Overwolf and no ads. Pro+ adds Lane Scouting on the loading screen and a Match Breakdown, Habits and Clips after every game. It sits fine next to either app.

The two subscriptions buy different things. OP.GG's is an ad remover with small extras; the tool itself is free. Mobalytics Plus is where its coaching features live, so the free version is closer to a preview. Here is every plan on one ladder, with Hexgate's next to them.

Over a year: OP.GG Ad-free is $36.00, Mobalytics Plus $69.99 paid yearly or $119.88 month to month, Hexgate Pro €89.88 and Pro+ €134.88 paid yearly.

The bottom rung is where Hexgate starts, without ads. Items re-ranked against the enemy team you are actually facing, runes with one-click import, champ select counters and ban targets, and a tier under every ARAM Mayhem augment cost nothing, next to whichever app you keep.

The Core Difference

OP.GG is the stats site most League players already have bookmarked. It shows summoner profiles and match history for almost any server, regional leaderboards, champion tiers with win, pick and ban rates, builds and runes, and a multi-search that checks all your teammates at once. OP.GG Desktop is a standalone app (it does not need the Overwolf client) that auto-sets runes and items, shows which skill to level and overlays a CS and gold comparison in game. It also covers TFT and Valorant.

Mobalytics was built, in its own words, because stats alone do not tell you how to improve. It reads your games into the Gamer Performance Index, a set of skill scores (farming, fighting, vision, survivability and more) you can track over time. The Live Companion prepares the next game with player information, matchup advice and build recommendations; Plus adds champion combos, challenges and Smart Highlights of your best plays.

Put simply: OP.GG gives you the numbers, Mobalytics tries to tell you what they mean for you.

OP.GG The Stat Sheet

Free (ads) / Ad-free $3.00 a month Standalone Windows and macOS

OP.GG's strength is breadth and speed. Looking up an opponent, checking a duo partner's recent form or reading a champion's tier takes seconds, and the multi-search is still the quickest way to size up a lobby. The desktop app is free, standalone and available on Windows and macOS.

Weak spots

  • The free experience is ad-supported.
  • The desktop app's overlays work on Windows only.
  • OP.GG leaves the interpretation to you. It will show that your deaths are high; it will not build you a plan to fix them.

Mobalytics The Coach

Free (ads) / Plus $5.83 to $9.99 a month Overwolf Windows only

Mobalytics' strength is the feedback loop. GPI turns a long match history into a few skills to work on, and matchup advice tells you how to play the lane in front of you. It covers League, TFT, Valorant and more under one Plus subscription.

Weak spots

  • Mobalytics Desktop runs on Overwolf, so you run a host platform plus the app alongside League.
  • The free tier shows ads.
  • The full coaching layer is the pricier plan here: $9.99 per month, or $5.83 per month paid yearly.
U.GG vs Mobalytics

Install Weight

OP.GG Desktop installs on its own; the Overwolf store even labels it "a standalone app" that does not require the Overwolf client. Mobalytics Desktop is an Overwolf app, so it brings the Overwolf platform with it.

  • OP.GG DesktopOne standalone app
  • Mobalytics DesktopThe Overwolf platform plus the app

On a strong PC neither will matter. On a 16 GB laptop running League, Discord and a browser, the lighter install is worth choosing on purpose, and you can still use Mobalytics' GPI on its website between sessions.

Riot Safety

Both are mainstream, long-running League tools that work from Riot's official data and stay within Riot's third-party rules. Neither will get your account banned.

  • Riot's official data
  • No game file changes
  • No automated input

The Gap Both Share, and Where Hexgate Fits

OP.GG's builds are the highest win rate builds for your champion this patch. Mobalytics' are its recommended builds with matchup advice on top. Both are decided before the game from thousands of other games, so the build is the same whether the enemy team is four AD champions or five mages.

Hexgate is built for that moment. During the game it reads the enemy team from Riot's Live Client Data API and reorders your situational item slots against their damage split, crowd control, healing, shields, tankiness and who is fed, and it shows the reason for every change. Your first core items stay data-driven. Around that, it covers champ select before the game and, with Pro+, your lane before minions spawn and every game after it ends.

What Hexgate adds

  • In game: situational items reordered against the five enemies in your game, with the reason for every change, and each lane's item gold difference on League's own scoreboard while you hold Tab.
  • Champ select: the highest win rate runes with one-click import, plus counters and ban targets.
  • ARAM Mayhem and Swiftplay: an S to D tier under every augment card, and a Swiftplay lobby window with the best picks, runes, core build and spells for each pick slot, imported in one click.
  • A native Tauri/Rust app for Windows: no Overwolf, no Electron, typically under 100 MB of memory, and no ads, including on the free tier (3 games per day).
  • Pro €9.99 a month (€7.49 billed annually): unlimited games in every mode, lane matchup scoring against your lane opponent and one-trick builds.
  • Pro+ €14.99 a month (€11.24 billed annually), before the game: Lane Scouting shows your lane opponent's and the enemy jungler's habits on the ranked and Swiftplay loading screen.
  • Pro+ after the game: a Match Breakdown of every ranked, Draft and Swiftplay game (what hurt, what helped, one tip for the next game), Habits that repeat across your last 10 games of a role, and Clips of every death, kill and assist, recorded on your PC.

What it does not replace

  • It is not a stats site: no match history lookup of any player you want and no tier list pages.
  • League only: no TFT or Valorant.
  • Windows only, no Mac app, and the free tier is 3 games per day.

Which One Should You Pick?

Pick OP.GG if you want fast lookups and a free, light app.

Match history, multi-search, tiers and auto-set runes and items, standalone on Windows and Mac, and $3.00 a month if you want the ads gone.

Pick Mobalytics if you want to know what to fix.

GPI and matchup advice give you a plan, not just numbers. Accept Overwolf, the ads on free and $5.83 to $9.99 a month for the full coaching layer.

Add Hexgate if your build never reacts to the enemy team.

Both apps hand you the average build. Hexgate adapts it during the game, with no Overwolf and no ads, and sits fine next to either one. Pro+ adds Lane Scouting before the game and a Match Breakdown, Habits and Clips after it.

Final Thoughts

OP.GG and Mobalytics solve different problems, which is why so many players keep both bookmarked. If you can only install one desktop app, OP.GG is the lighter and cheaper choice; if your rank has been flat for months, Mobalytics' coaching layer is the more likely fix.
