New League of Legends Items in Season 16

Season 16 brought new items for every role, two returning favorites and a Tear path for enchanters, and Patch 26.9 added new starters and boots. Here is what each one does and when it is the right buy.

Every stat, cost and passive on this page is taken from Riot's own item data for Patch 26.19 (Data Dragon 16.19.1).

Items: 16

Fighter and Assassin Items

Dusk and Dawn

New in 26.13,100 gold

  • 300 Health
  • 60 Ability Power
  • 20 Ability Haste
  • 20% Attack Speed

Spellblade: After using an Ability, your next Attack deals bonus magic damage and heals you On-Hit, then applies On-Hit effects an additional time.

Dusk and Dawn is the hybrid Spellblade of the season. Instead of only adding flat bonus damage like Sheen or Trinity Force, its empowered attack applies your On-Hit effects a second time and heals you. Any On-Hit damage from runes, abilities or other items procs twice on that attack.

Built onShyvana, Jax, Diana, Udyr, Warwick, Volibear

When to buildFirst item on fighters with real On-Hit effects in their kit. It is not a generalist Sheen item: if your champion has little On-Hit to double, Trinity Force or Iceborn Gauntlet still does more.

Endless Hunger

New in 26.13,100 gold

  • 65 Attack Damage
  • 5% Omnivamp
  • 20% Tenacity

Famine: Gain Ability Haste based on your bonus Attack Damage.

Feast: When a champion you damaged recently dies, gain Omnivamp for a moderate duration.

Endless Hunger puts damage, sustain and Tenacity on one item. The 20% Tenacity is the standout stat for fighters who want to stay in extended fights, and Famine turns the bonus AD you stack into Ability Haste, so it keeps scaling as your build grows. Feast adds more Omnivamp after a takedown, which helps most during teamfight cleanup.

Built onAatrox, Riven, Fiora, Lee Sin, Renekton, Kled

When to buildSecond or third item on AD fighters who fight for long stretches. Earlier against crowd-control heavy teams, where the Tenacity is worth more. Skip it on lethality burst builds, where 5% base Omnivamp barely matters.

Bastionbreaker

New in 26.13,000 gold

  • 55 Attack Damage
  • 22 Lethality
  • 15 Ability Haste

Shaped Charge: Dealing Ability damage to a champion or epic monster deals additional true damage.

Sabotage: Taking down a champion within 3 seconds of damaging them grants Sabotage for 90 seconds: your next Attack against an epic monster or turret deals additional true damage over 3 seconds.

Bastionbreaker is a lethality item with an objective twist. Shaped Charge adds true damage to your abilities against champions and epic monsters, and a takedown arms Sabotage for 90 seconds, so your next attack on a turret or epic monster deals extra true damage. A pick turns straight into a tower or a dragon.

When to buildOn ability-based AD assassins who take fights and then push their advantage onto an objective.

Mage and Hybrid Items

Actualizer

New in 26.12,800 gold

  • 90 Ability Power
  • 300 Mana
  • 10 Ability Haste

Mana Made Real (Active): For 8 seconds your mana is Empowered: spells cost 100% more Mana, you gain increased Ability damage, shielding and healing, and your basic ability cooldowns progress 30% faster.

Actualizer is a risk-reward item for mages with mana to burn. For 8 seconds your spells cost twice as much, but they hit harder, your heals and shields are stronger and your basic ability cooldowns tick 30% faster. That last part is a speed-up on top of your Ability Haste, not a flat amount of it.

The window covers most teamfight rotations: pop it as the fight starts, dump your combo, and your next rotation comes up before it ends. Without a big mana pool you run dry mid-fight, so it suits champions who already build mana. Ryze gains extra max Mana from his passive, and Cassiopeia regains Mana when Twin Fang kills.

Built onRyze, Cassiopeia, Anivia, Swain

When to buildSecond or third item, once you have a large mana pool. Pair it with Archangel's Staff or another mana item first rather than rushing it.

Hextech Gunblade

Back on the Rift3,000 gold

  • 80 Ability Power
  • 40 Attack Damage
  • 10% Omnivamp

Lightning Bolt (Active): Shocks the target enemy champion, dealing magic damage and slowing them by 25% for 1.5 seconds.

Hextech Gunblade is back on Summoner's Rift. It gives high AP, moderate AD and 10% Omnivamp, and its Lightning Bolt active is a point-and-click magic damage hit with a 25% slow for 1.5 seconds: no skillshot, so it closes gaps and finishes fleeing targets reliably.

Built onKatarina, Akali, Kayle, Corki

When to buildFirst or second item on champions that scale with both AP and AD. On a pure AP mage the 40 AD is wasted, and on a pure AD carry the 80 AP is.

Marksman Items

Hexoptics C44

New in 26.12,800 gold

  • 55 Attack Damage
  • 25% Critical Strike Chance

Magnification: Deal up to 10% increased damage with Attacks, based on how far away the enemy is (max damage at 500 range).

Arcane Aim: When a champion you damaged within 3 seconds dies, gain 100 attack range for 8 seconds.

Hexoptics C44 rewards shooting from far away. Magnification adds up to 10% damage based on distance, maxing out at 500 range, so a marksman who fights at max range gets close to the full bonus all the time. Arcane Aim adds 100 range for 8 seconds after a takedown: Caitlyn goes from 650 to 750 range.

Built onCaitlyn, Jhin, Jinx, Kog'Maw, Aphelios, Zeri

When to buildSecond or third crit item on long-range marksmen with a frontline to stand behind. Short-range carries like Nilah and Samira rarely hit the 500-range sweet spot, so they should skip it.

Fiendhunter Bolts

New in 26.12,650 gold

  • 45% Attack Speed
  • 25% Critical Strike Chance
  • 4% Move Speed

Night Vigil: Gain 30 Ultimate Ability Haste.

Opening Barrage: After casting your Ultimate, your next 3 basic attacks within 8 seconds gain 50% Attack Speed and critically strike for 80% of your normal critical strike damage. An attack that would already crit deals 15% bonus true damage instead.

Fiendhunter Bolts is built around your Ultimate. It gives 30 Ultimate Ability Haste, and after every Ultimate your next three attacks gain 50% Attack Speed and critically strike for 80% of your normal crit damage. Attacks that would crit anyway deal 15% bonus true damage instead.

When to buildOn marksmen whose Ultimate is a big part of their damage or their fight rhythm, so the extra Ultimate haste and the empowered attacks both pay off.

Stormrazor

Back on the Rift3,200 gold

  • 50 Attack Damage
  • 25% Attack Speed
  • 25% Critical Strike Chance

Energized: Moving and Attacking generates an Energized Attack.

Bolt: Your Energized Attack deals bonus magic damage and grants 45% Move Speed for 1.5 seconds.

Stormrazor is back on the Rift too. Moving and attacking charges an Energized Attack that deals bonus magic damage and grants 45% Move Speed for 1.5 seconds. That speed burst is the point: trade, then step out before the enemy answers, or reposition after the first hit when divers jump on you.

Built onKai'Sa, Vayne, Draven, Lucian, Tristana, Jhin

When to buildSecond or third crit item for marksmen who trade in short bursts and reposition, rather than standing still and auto-attacking.

Support and Tank Items

Bandlepipes

New in 26.12,300 gold

  • 200 Health
  • 15 Ability Haste
  • 20 Armor
  • 20 Magic Resist

Fanfare: Slowing or immobilizing an enemy champion grants Fanfare: 20 Move Speed for you, and Attack Speed for nearby allies, yourself included.

Bandlepipes turns your crowd control into damage for your team. Slowing or immobilizing an enemy champion grants Fanfare: 20 Move Speed for you and Attack Speed for nearby allies. Engage supports land crowd control several times per fight, and the speed helps you stay close for the follow-up.

Built onLeona, Nautilus, Braum, Amumu, Alistar, Thresh, Rell

When to buildSecond or third item after your support item and boots. Earlier next to an attack-speed carry like Jinx, Kog'Maw or Vayne. Lower priority when your carries are casters.

Protoplasm Harness

New in 26.12,600 gold

  • 600 Health
  • 20 Ability Haste

Lifeline: Taking damage that would drop you below 30% Health grants maximum Health for 5 seconds, then heals Health over the duration. While healing you gain 15% Size, 10% Move Speed and 25% Tenacity.

Protoplasm Harness brings Lifeline to tanks. Until now Lifeline sat on fighter, carry and mage items like Sterak's Gage, Maw of Malmortius, Immortal Shieldbow and Seraph's Embrace. When you drop below 30% Health, Harness grants maximum Health for 5 seconds and then heals you over that time, while you also gain 15% Size, 10% Move Speed and 25% Tenacity.

Built onOrnn, Sion, Sejuani, Malphite, Cho'Gath, Zac

When to buildSecond or third item. It gives 600 Health and 20 Ability Haste but no resistances, so get your armor and magic resist first, for example from Sunfire Aegis or Jak'Sho, The Protean.

Whispering Circlet

New in 26.12,250 gold

  • 200 Health
  • 8% Heal and Shield Power
  • 75% Base Mana Regen
  • 300 Mana

Harmony: Gain bonus Heal and Shield Power.

Manaflow: Landing Abilities grants 4 max Mana, doubled against champions (8 second cooldown, up to 5 charges). Transforms into Diadem of Songs at 360 max Mana.

Whispering Circlet gives enchanters their own Tear of the Goddess path. It builds from Tear, and every ability you land adds 4 max Mana (8 against champions). At 360 max Mana it transforms into Diadem of Songs.

Diadem of Songs

New in 26.12,250 gold

  • 200 Health
  • 8% Heal and Shield Power
  • 1000 Mana
  • 100% Base Mana Regen

Harmony: Gain bonus Heal and Shield Power.

Consonance: While you, or any ally you healed or shielded in the last 3 seconds, is in combat with champions, heal the lowest health nearby ally champion every second.

Diadem of Songs is worth the stacking: 1000 Mana, 100% Base Mana Regen, and Consonance, which heals the lowest health nearby ally every second while you or an ally you recently healed or shielded is fighting champions. It is healing that costs no mana and no cooldowns, and in long fights it adds up. Its mana regen also feeds Dawncore, an existing enchanter item that gains Heal and Shield Power and AP per 100% Base Mana Regen.

Built onSeraphine, Sona, Lulu, Soraka, Nami, Karma

When to buildBuy Tear of the Goddess on your first or second back if you go this route. Enchanters who land abilities constantly (Sona, Seraphine, Karma) transform it earliest. If you play passively and rarely poke, skip the Tear line and go straight into Dawncore or Moonstone Renewer.

New Starters and Boots (Patch 26.9)

Patch 26.9 added two Doran's items and a new pair of boots.

Doran's Bow

Added in 26.9400 gold

  • 8 Attack Damage
  • 15% Attack Speed
  • 1.5% Omnivamp

Doran's Bow is a 400 gold starter with Attack Damage, Attack Speed and a little Omnivamp, a new opening option for attack-speed laners.

Doran's Helm

Added in 26.9450 gold

  • 150 Health
  • 8 Armor
  • 8 Magic Resist

Helping Hand: Attacks deal 5 bonus physical damage to minions.

Doran's Helm is a 450 gold defensive starter: Health, both resistances, and 5 bonus damage to minions so last-hitting stays easy.

Gluttonous Greaves

Added in 26.91,000 gold

  • 45 Move Speed
  • 4% Omnivamp

Slay: Gain 0.6% Omnivamp on champion takedown, stacking up to 10 times.

Gluttonous Greaves are Omnivamp boots: 4% to start, plus 0.6% per champion takedown, up to 10 stacks. They upgrade into Immortal Path with no extra gold.

Immortal Path

Added in 26.91,000 gold

  • 45 Move Speed
  • 4% Omnivamp

Slay: Gain 0.6% Omnivamp on champion takedown, stacking up to 10 times.

Now and Forever: Above half Health, deal 4% increased damage. Below half Health, gain 12% increased healing, shielding and regeneration.

Immortal Path keeps the Omnivamp and adds Now and Forever: 4% more damage while you are above half Health, and 12% more healing, shielding and regeneration below it.

Removed and Renamed

  • Trailblazer and Opportunity left the item shop in Patch 26.9.
  • Luden's Companion is now Luden's Echo, with the same stats: 100 Ability Power, 600 Mana and 10 Ability Haste.
